gearing up… (or I’m doing NaNoWriMo again, don’t tell my husband)

In 19 days it will be November.

To most of you November may seem to be a pretty innocuous month.  I mean really…  it’s November.  The biggest most stressful thing about November for most of the USA is… Thanksgiving (the Canadians had Thanksgiving yesterday).

The kids are settled into school.  The winter holiday season is still far enough away that the stress shouldn’t be hitting yet and we’re just over Halloween (which is huge in my house)…  See November should be mellow. But my November is never mellow.  It was in November several years ago that I started this blog.  It was in November a couple years ago that we started this podcast.  It’s in November last year that I did Ignite Portland.  November and I… well…

November is already fucking freaking me out.  FREAKING. ME. OUT.

Why?  Because I think I’m just stupid, crazy, masochistic and inspired enough to try NaNoWriMo.  Again.

In 2007 I kicked NaNoWriMo’s ass!  In 2008 I was a quitter when I realized I had far too much to do.  Will 2009 be my year again?  Are you doing it? I’m doing it.

PS:  Don’t tell Mike… I don’t think he’s ready for this kind of news.

  1. Aaron says:

I’m pretty sure that my birthday is the most important thing in November, but I could be biased.

Good luck with the NaNoWhateverMoSoBloItGoes thing :)

NaNo has kicked my ass *every* time I have tried it. Thinking this year I might have the inspiration to hit the magical 50,000.
Martini’s and laptops while our kids sleep? I’ll let you inhale my second hand smoke if you don’t tell me my novel is absolute trash (but trashy is fine – and kind of the point this time round).
19 days? Need to build the chocolate stash!
