Whether caused by the ever rising tide of stress or the latest bug brought home via the germ factory from which your child receives an education there are days when you wake up and you feel like shit.
Enter today.
I’m a delicate little thing, really and truly. I can and have played through the pain when need be, there’s really no choice most of the time, especially as a parent. I’m sure I’ll do it again. Hell I did it this morning when after getting the kid off to school I cleaned the kitchen, started the laundry, and picked up around the living room before I could grab my laptop and curl up in my bed.
I’m not running a fever. I’m not hacking and coughing. But I feel like crud. Low grade crud that makes you want to sip tea and eat saltine crackers – if I ate crackers. If I had do go TO work rather than curling up in bed with my laptop I’m not sure I would have made it out the door.
End result is today is not a sick day. It’s a productive work day and I’m not losing time and all the important tasks are still getting done. It’s a win-win situation.
Which just makes me question yet again why more companies don’t have work from home allowances or positions.
I’m laying on the couch with the flu, but still working. It’s the shits, but I still love my work from home job anyway. I’m not often sick.
The flu sucks…
