Ye gods, Cami, how horrid for you. I know - I had to do this once when I was pregnant. If I were you, I'd push for a second blood test as soon as possible, to confirm if there really is a problem. But at the same time, I suppose it could be good in the long run.

Yikes. There are all kinds of things I'm not supposed to eat or drink due to really bad acid reflux, but I can't seem to conjure the willpower to do so, despite constant discomfort and the threat of esophegeal cancer.

Oh goodness! I'm so sorry you're going through this. Usually they say if you can get through the first two weeks you'll be ok. When I was semi following Atkins I found that my cravings really did die down after the two weeks.

Oooof.. I know all too well how hard it is to give up food/drinks you loooove.. I can barely eat anything other than rice cakes and lettuce right now, let alone drink coffee, soda, juice, tea anything fun..

But, if you're having to cut out sugar, orange juice is WAY WAY worse than soda.. so be careful with how much of that you drink too! And yes, Splenda is so great if you can't have sugar.. but now, I can't even have that! :(

Cami,

I'm so sorry. Regardless of what happens, there are better things in life than refined sugar. You're daughter is awesome, your husband is hot, you're an IgnitePortland presenter, and there's stevia.

Have you heard of stevia? I don't know if it's your solution- certainly doesn't replace Coke- but it's a way to make sugar pot pie without sugar, without chemicals, with an all natural extract that is zero on the glycemic index.

Personally, I think it's just a fluke, and your Dr. mixed up your labs. But just in case, I thought I'd throw that out there.

Wishing you the best.

As a hardcore sugar addict, you have my deepest sympathy. One thing that sometimes helps me with water is squeezing a little lime into it (of course, you then have to resist putting in the rum, sugar and mint to complete the mojito). And sometimes diet soda helps me kick the soda habit entirely. ;-)
