That suuuuuuuuuuuucks.
I have read, repeatedly, now, that plain old cinnamon is a great help with insulin/ blood sugar. I'll have to send you some links. I will.
As soon as I get my kid to calm down!

Hmmm. I hope it was a fluke. Diabetes doesn't run in our family. The loss of sourdough would do me in. You are a strong woman.

Aw girl! You didn't need that TOO. I feel your pain over the loss of your Cherry Coke though. I know how much you love it. Can you still eat bacon? Bacon diet? Bacon bread? Bacon rice? bacon bread? bacon pasta? Bacon, bacon bacon bacon... sorry, I'm hungry. Think I have to go get some bacon.

I'm so sorry Cami! I'm writing a book just for you though. you should definitely check out 'Nourishing Traditions' (where the *only* recipe that uses white flour, sadly, is the pie crust recipe) and 'wild fermentation' (which has lots of info on bread) while we're waiting for me to finish writing my book and I'll try to do a better job of linking to my whole wheat flour recipes for you. you can make great whole wheat sourdough bread too!

instead of soda you should try water kefir. i just had some last night and it was delicious... I just ordered the grains (kind of like kefir starter) and, once I make a batch, they start multiplying so i can share.
